Jet Blue charges $7 for blanket/pillow set

Here’s yet another to add to the list of airline fees that just keep arising.  Jet Blue is now charging $7 for a combination blanket and pillow set.  On the plus side you will be given a $5 coupon to Bed Bath and Beyond but on the downside your paying $7 for something that used to be free!

The way that Jet Blue is looking at this is in a green sense.  They state that these sets made by CleanBrands are eco-friendly and use MicronOne, a fabric that blocks all micro-toxins such as dust mites, mold spores, pollen and pet dander.

What do you think? Would you rather pay for a set that you can keep that’s eco-friendly or would you rather get a pillow and blanket that’s been used and (hopefully been washed)?

Personally, I think it’s almost a good idea. Yeah, it’s great to switch to green products and you’ll never hear me complain about that… but I’m not a fan of being nickel and dimed, especially considering this isn’t something you’re probably paying for in advance… plus, I’m assuming you get to keep this set since you payed for it, but honestly, who wants to lug around one more bulky item? Nowadays everyone’s trying to pack lighter and lighter to avoid baggage fees and I foresee a lot of these sets getting left behind in hotel rooms.
