Bargain Tweeting

Jet Blue and United Airlines are taking it to the tweet. They recently began offering first dibs on discounted fares to those who follow them on Twitter (A free social networking and micro-blogging site that allows its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Duh).

JetBlue posted its first “Cheep” (United’s Twitter only fares, known as “Twares”) on July 6, a $9 one-way trip from JFK to Nantucket. Sales are generally posted on Mondays and the carrier gives its followers about 8 hours- or as long as there are available seats- to book the trip for that or the following weekend.

Twitterers have to act fast to take advantage of the unbeatable deals…but considering they are answering the question ‘what are you doing?’ in 140 characters or less- this shouldn’t be a problem.

Jet Blue Live - Rock Out Before You Takeoff

If you fly through New York’s Kennedy Airport, news of a flight delay might not be so bad. Now through November 25th, Jet Blue is featuring the Live from T5 concert series in its new terminal. At 5 p.m. on select Fridays, the airline will host indie musical acts. Partnering with Superfly Productions, the airline will also run an online contest for aspiring bands. The public will choose a winner who will then play the terminal in August.

Jet Blue charges $7 for blanket/pillow set

Here’s yet another to add to the list of airline fees that just keep arising.  Jet Blue is now charging $7 for a combination blanket and pillow set.  On the plus side you will be given a $5 coupon to Bed Bath and Beyond but on the downside your paying $7 for something that used to be free!

The way that Jet Blue is looking at this is in a green sense.  They state that these sets made by CleanBrands are eco-friendly and use MicronOne, a fabric that blocks all micro-toxins such as dust mites, mold spores, pollen and pet dander.

What do you think? Would you rather pay for a set that you can keep that’s eco-friendly or would you rather get a pillow and blanket that’s been used and (hopefully been washed)?
