Back in April we wrote about Pet Airways, the first pets only airline, that hoped to be up and running this summer. Well yesterday a few furry little friends boarded the very first flight!

Your pets are definitely precious cargo, but that doesn’t mean you want them tossed into cargo when flying. If your furry friend has his own frequent flyer account, check out Pet Airways, soon to be traveling through major cities such as New York,  Washington DC, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles.

For $149 your pet will fly in the main cabin of the 20 – 40 passenger planes that have been stripped of their “human” furnishings; like seats and overhead bins. Pets or playfully dubbed “pawsengers,” are placed in their private carriers that are securely fastened to the plane.
